Section Overview

Welcome to this session — the core of the Master Path, and one of the richest parts of your journey.

This growing module is designed to deepen your understanding of painting by exploring focused themes — not through one method, but through the diverse approaches of the great Masters, from the classical to the contemporary.

Each month, we take a specific subject — such as fabric, feet, flowing red hair, children’s portraiture, reflections, or light and shadow — and dive into it from multiple angles. We don’t just study how to paint it; we ask how has this subject been interpreted through time, and how can those insights inform your own expression today?

📚 How it works:

  • A pre-recorded demo by Rosso will be released two weeks before the live group critique — giving you time to absorb, explore, and respond to the material at your own pace.
  • You’ll then be invited to a live monthly critique session, where we discuss your work in the context of that theme, analyse master examples together, and refine your personal direction with direct feedback.
  • Alongside each demo, you'll receive a bundle of resources — including historical analysis, visual comparisons, technique breakdowns, and interpretative approaches drawn from the work of great painters.

What we explore:

We study and compare how different artists have approached the same theme — from the layered transparency of Vermeer and Rubens, to the bold brushwork of Mancini and Sargent, the academic precision of Bouguereau, and the material richness of Klimt, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Sorolla, Velázquez, and many others.

By learning how the Masters used glazing, impasto, fine rendering, and painterly abstraction, you’ll gain a flexible toolbox — rooted in history, but open to personal interpretation.

🌱 A Growing Library of Artistic Insight

This section will continue to grow — with new Focus Themes and Guides added regularly.

You’ll be notified by email each time new content is released, and you’ll have lifetime access to the entire library of past and future chapters.

This is more than a lesson. It’s a way of thinking — of seeing beyond what’s in front of you, learning from the past, and translating that into your own language as an artist.

I can’t wait to meet you all in the classroom and dive into these Master Themes together!
